Zara could completely wreck our team if she wanted to. Three months ago, I would’ve laughed if somebody said some girl could easily come between us all. But now, it’s fact and it’s scary.

If we did this, we could all be happy.

But would Zara want this? Would she be okay with it? Would we all really be okay with it in the end? Because it’s one thing to think about it in theory. It’s another thing to see your girlfriend kissing another guy, even if that guy is your best friend. No, more than my best friend. They’re my brothers, even if we’re not blood related.

And what about later in our relationship? When things get more physical... will I really be okay sharing my girlfriend with four other guys?

  It’s a lot.

I look at Zara again. Her long, blonde hair is fanned over the pillow, a lot of it is on Cam too.

If anybody is worth it, it’s her. I don’t know what will happen in the future. I don’t know if we will all just be okay with it or if it will end up tearing us apart, but we have to try, right? Am I crazy to even dream that this could work?

I imagine the six of us going on missions together. And I imagine us at our home. It would have to be a big home.

  And kids...

  Would we even want kids?

Not for a long time, obviously, but I can see it. I can see a future with all of us together. And we’re happy.

Even if this all crashes and burns.

Even if we end up hating each other in the end...

  We have to try.

And if it works out... it will be beautiful.

I try not to think about it not working out.

No, we will make it work.

  We have to.

  Perfect.

  Tristan.

When Cam is released from the hospital, we take him to Zach’s house for his recovery. At least for a bit. There is no way he’s going to feel like walking up a bunch of flights of stairs to get to his dorm room.

Zach also wants to talk to us about new security measures. I’m pretty sure he’s about to make us use a buddy system, like we do on missions. Even though it’s annoying, I’m glad he’s going to do it.

  Goodbye, privacy.

But before we can go in, Austin asks to talk to me.

  In private.

I get in the passenger side of the car he was driving. I have no idea what he’s about to say, but I have a feeling it’s about Zara.

Austin is the only one who said no to my proposal last weekend. I told him to think about it, even though he was very adamant about not needing to think about it. I hope that he’s changed his mind, but my heart is heavy at the thought of him saying he’s thought about it and that there is no way he would want to be involved.

This solution is the only one I can think of that would make everybody happy. It’s the only solution that will keep our team together. I worry that Austin will want to leave the team or that he’ll want to force Zara to choose. If we do that, she will run away from all of us. I know it.

“How will this work?” Austin asks. “If we all date her.”

  I wasn’t expecting that.

I allow myself to have a little bit of hope.

“Honestly, I’m not sure. It’s going to be a lot of work and we’ll have to figure it out along the way,” I say.

“Do you think Zara will be on board with it?” he asks.

I shrug. “Maybe not at first, but after she thinks about it, how could she not be? It feels... right.”

“It kind of does feel right,” Austin says. “I can’t even believe I’m saying that out loud.”

  “You love her, huh?”

He nods. “I do. Otherwise, I would’ve said one of you guys could date her. I just... can’t back away from her. And your solution... it just makes so much sense.”

“Does that mean that you’re in?” I ask.

  “I am,” he says.

“Now we just need to tell Zara,” I say.

  “That’s the hard part.”

“Yes. Because this is individual relationships between her and five different guys,” I say. “I guess we all have to ask her to be our girlfriend or something. I don’t even know how this works.”

“This was your idea,” Austin says.

“I know. I just hadn’t thought about the logistics of it yet. It’s not exactly something normal,” I say.

  “No, it’s definitely not.”

But it’s right. I know it is. That is why we all agreed to it so quickly.

Now that Austin is in, I only have to convince Zara.

Zara might be harder to convince. At least at first. She’ll think that she’s taking away our options or asking too much from us. But once we convince her, I truly believe she will see that it’s the perfect solution. She has more than enough love for us all. And we will love her and protect her with our lives.

“What about Zach? And her parents? And our parents?” Austin asks.

“One thing at a time,” I say. “First, let’s figure this out for ourselves, then we can explain it to the important people in our life.”

“And what about everybody else? Everybody at school? They’re all going to think what we’re doing is weird. They won’t understand.”

“No, they won’t,” I say. “But it doesn’t matter. We don’t have to explain ourselves to them.”

“Are we really going to do this?” Austin asks.

  “Yeah, we really are.”

My stomach tightens, but I’m not nervous. I’m excited.

  We’re really doing this.

  Everything is perfect.

  The end.

Jaded, Book 7, is coming soon!

  Letter from Scarlett.

Hey! Thank you so much for reading the sixth book in my series, The Zara Chronicles.

  That ending.

It wasn’t that bad ;). I actually think that might have been the best ending this series has had so far.

I so hope that you’re all happy with the direction that this series is going. I love the character development in this book, especially for Austin. And I hope you’re not all too mad at him over how I left things in the last book. It just needed to happen and I hope you understand!

If you did enjoy this book, it would mean a lot to me if you left a review wherever you picked this up. As a self-published author, it helps me out so much!
